It has been a long-standing family joke to ask Peter to do "thumbs up." He would quickly put up his pointer finger, and we would all promptly giggle (I know that sounds pretty mean, but we just thought it was so cute and funny). Now, the light has turned on, and when we ask him, he thinks for a minute, slowly sticks his thumb out, smiles, and says, "Look! I did it! I'm making a thumbs up!" Now when we laugh, it's with giggles of pride to see how happy it makes him that he "gets" it. He's in on the joke, and he can do it. What a big boy!
