Jack, believe it or not, is leaving for college, so we went up to visit him and have a farewell lunch. The mood was surreal, mixed with excitement and a touch of nostalgia. Of course, we're all thrilled for him to begin this wonderful time in his life (who didn't love their college years), but it's also so hard to say good-bye to someone that you don't want to go. All the usual cliches float to mind- time goes too quickly, kids grow up too fast, cherish all the days you have. But I guess they're cliches because they ring true. When Peter was hugging Jack good-bye, I thought to myself how in my mind, Jack is still that little boy that Peter is, but in reality he's this tall, capable, amazing individual ready to try his own path. It's painful, yet awesome, exciting, but scary. I can't wait to see what Jack will do, because I'm certain it will be awesome.
