Ten's the Magic Number

Pat and I celebrated our ten year anniversary at the end of July. Seriously, I know I say it all the time, but I can't believe how quickly time goes. It really seems like yesterday we were kids in college, and suddenly we've been married a decade- unbelievable! We've had a wonderful ten years- me teaching, and Pat going through med school and finishing his residency, and of course, the births of Lizzy and Peter. When I look back on the past ten years, I'm filled with a haze of countless happy memories, and that's how I would describe our life together: "happy." We've found uncomplicated happiness, laughter, joy, and companionship in one another, and we feel really lucky to share our lives together. My advice for my own children when looking for a mate would be, "find someone that is your very best friend, that you love to laugh with and have fun with, and that you admire whole-heartedly." The rest seems to fall into place.

We were so fortunate that Auntie Elizabeth volunteered to watch Lizzy and Peter for the weekend so we could have a get-away trip to San Francisco. It was bittersweet to leave the kids, and the car felt empty without the carseats in the back, but we were so excited to have some time to ourselves. We had an action packed weekend! We saw Wicked, went to museums, explored Golden Gate Park, and had wonderful meals. What a luxury to window shop and stroll down the street! How amazing to get dressed in a relaxing setting, watching t.v. and taking my time. How wonderful to take a long nap in the middle of the day and to sleep in late! We were truly spoiled, and we had the best time enjoying one another's company without any distractions and demands from children. By the end, we felt refreshed and ready to reunite with our babies! I did miss them so, but that little escape was heavenly:)
