Where we live, it never rains in the summer. In fact, I didn't even know it did rain in the summer some places until I was embarrassingly old. So we were all surprised and excited when a sudden storm hit after lunch one day. The kids went crazy! They ran around the house, pointing and yelling out their shock. Then, they ran to get their rain "gear" and burst outside. Their main objective- finding snails. Tons of them were out parading around the bushes. The snails must have been equally surprised, so they took advantage of this unexpected downpour. Peter collected snails in a little box, let a bunch of them crawl all over his arms and hands, then brought them inside (gross). We checked them out with our magnifying glasses them brought them back to their "home." We even squeezed in an afternoon hot chocolate to top off the day. What a perfect way to enjoy a summer storm.
